I've found them to be quite inspiring also...
In recent months I've sorta stolen my sisters guitar and learnt the basics.
I know how to play disco and kelsey by metro station, as well as a couple of other random songs I'm only self taught though... but it's also fun to sing along and that was quite the challenge at first, but it's quite simple to master. Although I'm a shocking singer... lol
And my friends are quite the same as Stepha_Miserie describes her own. Although one of my friends is learning guitar also, the rest are all "omfg it would be awesomeeee to be in a band" and yeah.. do nothing about it.
But I suppose we're all not even 17 yet so who knows where life leads us, right?
